Amazing Spider-Man #112-114 (1972)

Gerry Conway is writing Amazing Spider-Man now! Under his pen we’ll see the deaths of both Gwen Stacy and Norman Osborn… but not just yet.

Let’s take a look at what Harry gets up to in these issues. Not a whole lot, his character is on the backburner after his drug addiction and rehab, but he’s still very much part of the supporting cast!

In ASM #112 Peter is dealing with the Gibbon and searching for a missing Aunt May. He’s having all sorts of dilemmas: Should he stop to help victims of crime or carry on the search no matter what? In the middle of all this he returns to his and Harry’s pad.

Harry is looking out for Peter in his time of need.

Harry offers Peter his help, but there’s nothing much he can really do. Peter leaves, depressed.

Later, Harry points MJ and Anna Watson to Peter’s location at the Daily Bugle.

In #113 Spidey faces off with Doc Ock but is soon doubled over with pain from cramps. What’s going on?

Peter makes it back to the apartment, has a nightmare about Aunt May, and wakes up to see Gwen. (Who still has no idea that Spider-Man and Peter Parker are one and the same, by the way.) Harry has gotten Peter a doctor.

I wonder if Harry is paying for Peter’s prescriptions?

Peter continues the search for May despite the condition he’s in and that leads him right into the arms (and arms, and arms) of Doc Ock. Peter is able to defeat him, but ends up on the wrong end of Hammerhead’s gun.

And that’s it for Harry’s appearances in this arc! He does however get a brief mention in #114, from Flash-

(Nice going, Flash)

But that’s it! Oh, Peter finds Aunt May, of course. She’s living with Doc Ock! What a twist! But we’re here for Harry, and despite the lack of him here there will be more of him in the future, seeing as we’re fast approaching The Night Gwen Stacy Died
