So! Where we left off, Harry had returned from the dead. Except, he wasn’t actually dead in the first place. Gwen, who is one of five people sharing the identity of Mysterio, made it look like he was dead. Now Harry and Gwensterio are going up the Sinister Six… but Gwen’s methods are slightly different… Read More Harry Osborn in Ultimate Spider-Man #17
Gwen Stacy is no more. She died in Amazing Spider-Man #121 and to THIS DAY, remarkably, her death is yet to be fully undone. (Oh, Spider-Gwen? She’s an alternate universe.) It was a story that shook the world of Spider-Man to its core and we’re not done with it yet! Let’s take a look at… Read More Harry Osborn in Amazing Spider-Man #122 – The Night Gwen Stacy Died, part two!
We’re here! We have reached the most famous Spider-Man story of all, THE NIGHT GWEN STACY DIED! Before this, killing off a superhero’s girlfriend would have been unthinkable. Gwen’s death changed everything, and ushered in a new and darker era of comics. Heck, you can probably argue that without Gwen’s death, we wouldn’t have gotten… Read More Harry Osborn in Amazing Spider-Man #121 – The Night Gwen Stacy Died, part one!
Let’s take a look at Ultimate Spider-Man #7! Lots of Harry in this one and great cover art: I wonder if the lines running down from Harry’s eye are supposed to evoke tears? It really looks that way. One page in and we’re already at the Norman Osborn Verbal Abuse Show. Jeez! Otto cuts in… Read More Harry Osborn in Ultimate Spider-Man #7
J.M. DeMatteis’s excellent Shadow of the Green Goblin has finished now. Oh, you were hoping things might end well for Harry? Nope! He goes through the wringer here as always. (To be fair so does everyone else, including the poor, poor Proto-Goblin.) The real heart of this series is Peter Parker and Aunt May, and… Read More Harry in “Shadow of the Green Goblin #4”
Welcome back to the annotated adventures of Harry Osborn! So last time I posted a throwback Harry arc (all the way back in April, oops) Harry was getting political and he seemed to be well free of the drug issues that plagued him. Unfortunately… this next string of comics make it clear he’s using again.… Read More Harry Osborn’s Relapse (1973)
Sadly, Shadow of the Green Goblin is nearly over! But here we get the full story (well, sort of) of Emily’s faked death. Peter Parker relates it to us, but he admits upfront that he wasn’t there for the conversation, so couldn’t possibly know all the details. It doesn’t change much from what we already… Read More The Osborn family past in “Shadow of the Green Goblin #3”
Ultimate Spider-Man #5 is out now and it takes a break from the Spider-Man action to delve into Harry’s past. We open with an appearance from Norman, the first one in this particular universe. Before Norman can finish that sentence, he and Emily are blown up in the “Stark” attack and all Harry can do… Read More Ultimate Spider-Man #5 is all about Harry
Following on from last issue! Now, Harry doesn’t have a lot to do in this issue and that’s totally fine, because we get some Peter-May and Peter-Flint Marko scenes that are absolutely wonderful. We also catch up with Gwen and her dying mother (I’m not sure if we’ve ever even seen Helen Stacy in the… Read More Harry Osborn in “Shadow of the Green Goblin #2”
Harry gets political in this little arc from late 1972. Now interestingly, this story is an adapted version of the one which appears in Spectacular Spider-Man Magazine #1 which came out in 1968. Plenty of things were edited to make it fit in with the 1972 Spider-Man continuity, such as taking out George Stacy (him… Read More Amazing Spider-Man #116 – #118: The Raleigh arc
