Harry Osborn in Ultimate Spider-Man #19 – #20

Yeah I know I’m way behind on these, so you get a two-for-one deal, yeah?

Where we left off, Harry and Gwen and Peter were waging war against Kingpin, but Peter’s son Richard had just been captured by him. Black Cat led him into a trap. Luckily, we soon see how Richard got away: his black suit turned into… Venom!

Everyone knew he’d show up eventually. But what of Harry, you ask? He’s in this comic but not a whole lot. When Mole Man (btw, did anyone else totally love Paul Walter Hauser’s Mole Man in Fantastic Four: First Steps?) arrives at Peter’s home to talk with him, we get a flashback of Peter watching Harry be tortured at the hands of Kraven:

Poor Harry! And poor Peter! They’ve been through some messed-up stuff.

MJ and Peter have some angry words for Richard about his putting himself in danger, and that turns into a heart-to-heart between husband and wife where MJ admits she’s cracking under the pressure of being Spider-Man’s wife. She asks Peter if he trusts Harry and Gwen and he gives an interesting answer:

Right there with you, Peter.

So that’s every Harry thing in #19. On to #20!

What a nice image on the cover! Surely nothing is going to go wrong in THESE pages!

Looking snappy there Gwen. She never does wear trousers much does she?

She’s sounding a little villainous there, isn’t she? And judging by the look on Harry’s face, he thinks so as well:

Harry is still “dead” which is very inconvenient for him, but luckily he has the money to make that little problem go away!

Hang on… did hiring a new restaurant crew mean firing the old ones? If so, it is ON SIGHT, ULTIMATE HARRY

Now we get a moment between Harry and MJ. There hasn’t really been many of those so far. He promises, he’ll tell her everything she needs to know about their superhero business.

Harry points out that he did tell Peter to tell MJ what he was doing in his spare time. And he really should have.

I feel like if I was MJ, I’d be madder about the situation.

Harry that’s not hilarious. READ THE ROOM, RICH BOY

MJ felt “excited” too, but she’s coming down off that high now.

I dislike the way Harry is drawn in that last panel. That smile just ain’t right…

HARRY! READ THE ROOM!

THIS smile, on the other hand, is perfectly drawn.

Awww, a nice Peter-Harry friendship moment in the midst of this.

MJ starts crying and Gwen is not particularly helpful.

MJ storms away crying to the bathroom, and Gwen follows her.

Gwen starts going on about Peter’s “weakness”…

…and then calling MJ and her kids “useless”….

so…

MJ just DECKS Gwen. (Who knew she was that strong?) Oh, this is going to end so badly.

Thank you Harry for going to “economic policy” before “shoes.”

MJ says, “You’re a good man, Peter. And you could be too, Harry… but your wife, she’s going to get everyone killed. And someone… someone needs to do something about that.”

Cut to Mr Negative! But I actually suspect Gwen herself will end up being the final boss of this particular Ultimate Spiderverse.
