Harry Osborn in Ultimate Spider-Man #10

Harry is on the front cover again for Ultimate Spider-Man #10! Wait, doesn’t that cover look a little familiar?

Yep, it’s a take on the famous cover from Amazing Spider-Man #39! But where is Harry taking Jameson, and does he have nefarious intentions?

Well, let’s jump right into the Harry parts of the story and find out. First, though, we catch up with Ben and Jonah. They’re investigating who Wilson Fisk sold Stark/Stane Industries to and it’s great watching them bounce off each other. Wait, you know who this is going to lead them back to, right? First, they go to Gwen.

Ah, 6160 Gwen. It’s hard to get a handle on her because we don’t really know her yet. I do really suspect bad things are in her future, though, unfortunately.

Gwen gets mad at Ben and Jonah when they try to ask questions.

I’m not sure we’re actually meant to like this Gwen very much and that makes me suspect she might turn supervillain sometime in the future. But what would spark it? Maybe… Harry’s death? (C’mon, we all know it’s a possibility.)

“Hope you can forgive me if this doesn’t go well, Peter,” says Harry. Oh that doesn’t sound like foreshadowing AT ALL.

Ben and Jonah exchange money. They’ve uncovered the truth about Oscorp, but are they gonna write about it?

Harry hits them with a mild threat. But Ben has gotten the measure of him.

Ben and Jonah do not, however, know that Harry is the Green Goblin.

But if the cover is anything to go by, they’re about to find out!

Okay, now THIS? I’m pretty sure this is more foreshadowing! It’s a popular fan theory that Harry will die (sorry, Harry, but there’s precident) and Gwen will take up the Green Goblin mantle for revenge. And on seeing the above panels I instantly thought, “Ah yeah. That’s definitely gonna be what they go for.”

Whatta badass shot! However, Harry is swiftly deflated when Ben and Jonah exchange money again.

And then, we get a glimpse of Angry Harry.

You may recollect that one issue ago, he threw a supervillain off a roof, and he’s implied to have tortured another one. This Harry walks a very fine line between good guy and bad guy, and I suspect that line will be crossed soon.

Jonah and Ben are nonplussed about Harry’s anger. They don’t actually want to write a story about the Goblin.

Harry has something much bigger: info on who controls the world.

That “by any means neccessary” is easy to miss, but jeez, Harry. Still walking that line.

Hooray, a mention of Aunt May. I never really liked that she’s dead in this universe. (To be honest, I’d have rather had her than Uncle Ben. I am a May fan and proud of it.)

Harry hands over the info about the Maker’s Council but it comes with a warning.

Cut to Jonah and Peter publishing the story under a fake name…

…Ben Reilly. (Ur, isn’t that still going to be fairly easy to trace back to Ben Parker?)

I’ve heard people complaining about this issue because there’s no real action and very little actual Spider-Man, but I still liked it. Looking forward to the next one!

  1. Yeiiii! I love this cover and story! Harry showing his armor goblin hands was so awesome! 🥰🤩🤩 Gwen’s attitude is very weird and I can bet she has something of a dark past which could turn her into a villain, but I don’t think she’ll turn into GG if Harry dies, I mean it would be very predectible. For the moment, all the shots point to an uncontrolable Harry (he got mad in the moment they involucre Gwen) adding the AI Norman.
