Greetings from 11pm my time! Did I stay up to go through every frame of the just-dropped trailer of Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 and make note of all the great Harry content? You bet I did! That’s what you gotta do if you run a blog for your favourite fictional character!

This trailer has me so hyped. All the characters have slightly new designs (MJ looks great!), the graphics look gorgeous and nice, my fave villain from the last game Mr Negative is back! I cannot WAIT to play this.

So let’s see how much of Harry’s plotline we can put together. The trailer opens with him and Peter talking during a nice sunny day, and Harry says,

“A lot’s happened in the past ten years. It’s a miracle I’m even here now. I got a second chance, and I’m gonna take advantage of that. But I need you with me, Pete. We’re going to heal the world.”

So it sure sounds like floating in a big green tank with a symbiote, which is where we left Harry at the end of Spider-Man, did wonders!… For now.

Later on, Harry, MJ, Miles and Peter meet up at a fair. This is the first time Miles and Harry have met!

Peter introduces Harry to Miles as his best friend.

Now what’s this? This sure looks like the symbiote has escaped!

Some flashes of Peter being corrupted by the symbiote suit, some MJ, Miles going up against Mr Negative (who killed his dad, don’t forget) and then cut to Harry telling Peter, “This was our dream.”

If you’re wondering who’s voicing Harry by the way, it’s Graham Phillips of Riverdale and The Good Wife!

Then, a shot of Harry looking at something and a shot of Peter struggling inside the symbiote suit. They’re probably not the same scene, but we’re clearly meant to make a connection here!

EDIT: oliveroctavius has pointed out that Harry is carrying a cane in this scene!

A reminder that he has a disability.

Here’s our very first look at Norman in this game! He and Harry stand in front of the green tank with the symbiote in it and Norman says “I’m not going to lose you.” Is Harry going back in that tank?

When someone puts their hand on the side of Harry’s face you know it’s bad news.

The next shot is Harry screaming in frustration and throwing something (a phone maybe?) at a glass window.

THEN Harry steps out into the night as Venom (played by Tony Todd!) repeats “We’re going to heal the world…”

…and cut to a fully Venom-nized Harry!

Then we get the release date: October 20! So I’ll see all you other Harry fans there… once I save up and buy a PS5. SO EXCITED!
