This interview dropped yesterday and is a must-see for Harry fans. JMD answers some questions he’s answered before (was Harry’s death always the plan, why on earth hasn’t The Child Within ever been released as an omnibus) but some he hasn’t. Including, and this was definitely of interest to me, his thoughts on last year’s Amazing Spider-Man comics. He didn’t know they killed off Harry again, so we got this exchange:
Brad Douglas: They brought [Harry] back and they killed him again-
J.M. DeMatteis: He’s dead again? Poor Harry.
Brad Douglas: In ten years we’ll talk to [you] about bringing him back-
J.M. DeMatteis: You never know, it could be in five minutes.
I really hope so!
As a side note not completely related to Harry, I appreciate the criticism here about Amazing Spider-Man 2’s nonsensical gender-swap (not to mention personality-swap) of Dr Kafka, I’ve never really heard anyone “behind the scenes” of things bring that up before, but to this day it baffles me. (More on Kafka in a few weeks, since her Queen Goblin is coming!)
